Hi,
Apologies for the delay in replying to this. I have seen this work, at
last, though have not had a chance to verify it on my own server setups
as yet - hence the lack of reply...
The problem was not with the abstraction layers or PHP - it was that
noone bothered to write in any of the documentation that the Oracle SDK
is a required prerequisite for all of this to work. I eventually
inferred this from a comment buried in the middle of some web page I found.
I can only assume that once the Oracle SDK is installed, I will be able
to use whatever abstraction library I choose - but it was this hurdle
that stumped me for days.
I will not go into my feelings regarding having to install an SDK on a
production server just to make things work. If someone knows of a better
may of interfacing Oracle with Perl/PHP, please do post a mail.
Thanks - and see you in Dublin soon for one of those PotD things. :)
Best regards,
-->Gar
