I agree  - we are already spread thin between this mailing list, our primary
means of communication, and the #phpug irc channel on irc.linux.ie
I'd suggest hosting a web based irc client and ensure the website has obvious
links to the mailman archives of this mailing list.

According to the PEAR developers map, it seems I am the only one in Ireland -
which I seriously doubt. I'd suggest those of us who have accounts on
pear.php.net add themselves to this map. 
And everyone should add themselves to the php.ie map at http://www.frappr.com/irishphpusersgroup/ 
too :-)
I'd also be more inclined that we each 'adopt' some PEAR/[insert your favourite
framework here] package and work away on adding bug fixes and new functionality to those.
