I'll second this. Also, if you're thinking of ever needing a full IDE for any other languages, Eclipse will be your friend here two. Get to know one IDE and get to know it well. I plan to use as many languages as my brain will let me understand. Hence, I use Eclipse.
There's also EasyEclipse (www.easyeclipse.org) which will get you up and running as fast as possible. There's a distro for PHP which includes the base plugins you need.
