Did anyone else spot Lukas Kahwe Smith's blog on the planet-php blog
aggregator today?
 http://www.pooteeweet.org/blog/1025

What he's suggesting seems to make a lot of sense - there are too many
factions within the
PHP community and anything that can be done to get, for example the sugarcrm
meeting
this week that probably could have linked with the PHPUG meeting in Dublin.

He thinks some form of organisation "should be a mediator between various
(potential) participants
in the PHP world. As such emPHPower could serve as a mediator between the
PHP.net developers
and its user base, between corporations and PHP.net, between corporations
and grass roots organizers etc."

It seems like a very interesting idea and I think his vision if it turns to
reality could have a
good relationship with php.ie/the Irish PHP Users Group as we try to promote
the use of PHP
and provide a PHP community here in Ireland - read the rest on his blog for
more details.
